How to Reach:
Located in Padma Nagar area of the city, the locality is flanked by major roads and connectivity is not at all an issue for those wishing to visit the lake. The famous Balaji Temple of Bhiwandi is also situated at the margin of the lake. So, you can plan to visit both the lake as well as temple at the same time.


  • The State Highways 35 and 76 leads to the entrance of the park that surrounds the lake. If you are travelling from Mumbai, the Mumbai Nasik National Highway intersects the 76 only a couple of kilometres away from the lake. From there, you can take an auto directly to the lake.
  • The nearest rail station is the Bhiwandi Road Station. If you are traveling by train, once you get down at the station you can hire an auto rickshaw to the lake. The distance would not be more than 3 kilometers.
  • The closest airport to the lake is at Mumbai, at a distance of 60 kms.

When to Visit:
The Varala Devi Lake, Bhiwandi is usually crowded on weekends and on public holidays. Its brimmed to capacity especially during the mornings when health enthusiasts come for their regular stroll.

Being so close to the coast, the weather in Bhiwandi is moderate. However, the summer months can be scorching, especially during the day when temperatures soar high. Nights are cool and pleasant. If you are planning to visit the lake then try to do so in the morning or evening because during these times you will find the weather pleasant and cool. The weather remains cool all throughout winter.
