Both beaches are easily accessible from Mumbai. There are many other places worth sightseeing around the beach, one of them being the Kolaba Fort near the famous town of Alibag. It is at a walking distance from Kihim beach. You can also visit the Chaul near Kihim beach, known for its Portuguese historical ruins, the tower of St. Barbara and many Buddhist caves, and a synagogue. The Khanderi and Underi forts standing over the horizon completes the scenic view. The place is full of history whether it is about the great Chatrapatti Shivaji or the Portuguese or Britishers. It has seen everything.

Surprisingly, there is a religious touch to the beaches as well. If you happen to visit Kihim beach during the Shravan time you can witness the other marvel of the nature; the self appearing Shivalinga in the sand which appears during every Shravan by itself and disappears for the rest of the year.
Location

It is located along the coast of Alibag in the Raigarh district of Maharashtra, India. It is around 12 kms from Alibag. It is 142 kms from Mumbai and 165 kms from Pune.

Best time to visit Kihim is in the winters. Usually the coastal winters are cool and pleasant and so is the weather of Kihim. If the idea of an ideal holiday for you is to spend cool winter days bathing under the sun then Kihim is the place you are looking for.

How to reach

Alibag is around 110 kms from Bhiwandi. You have two options to reach Kihim; either you can go via Aalibag or you can go via Mumbai. If you have chosen the Mumbai route then you can take a launch from the Gateway of India straight up to Mandwa. Kihim is 14 kms away from Mandwa. The beach is right on the Alibag Mandwa road.
